About me

As a qualified counsellor (BSc in Counselling Skills and Therapeutic Communication), I bring two decades of patience, curiosity and open-mindedness from my career in the helping professions to my work. I believe that, as human beings, we all want to live purposeful and meaningful lives and that this is unique to each individual. My passion is being able to hear and connect with people to build an open, compassionate and hopeful relationship. A relationship where it feels safe to feel whatever comes up, tackle big questions or take small practical steps towards peace and confidence.

I can help you:

  • Work towards healing from past trauma and hurt.
  • Explore your identity and sense of self.
  • Navigate what motivates and drives you as you work towards goals.
  • Work out what habits and patterns are helping you and what is hindering you.
  • Manage anxiety and overthinking, especially health and death anxiety.
  • Explore patterns and feelings in relationships.
  • Explore feelings after a cancer or ill health diagnosis.
  • Share and process grief.
  • Build healthy relationships and boundaries.
  • Untangle overwhelming feelings of shame, guilt and self-loathing.

As an integrative therapist, I also integrate CBT and creative techniques into my work where helpful. I have training and experience in:

  • Working safely online
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Existentialism
  • The mental health impact of a cancer diagnosis
  • Grief and bereavement
  • End of life therapy
  • Work-related stress and burnout
  • Single-Session Therapy
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Child Sexual Abuse

I strive to create a space in which the range and diversity of human experience and identity is appreciated, accommodated and celebrated. This means that I am happy to have an open conversation with you about what may help you access therapy whether your need is related to a disability, neurodivergence or communication style. This can include adjusting the environment (for example, lighting, heating, furniture, etc), adjusting the sessions (for example length of time, the need for a translator, etc) or adjusting the communication style (for example non-verbal communication, using devices or coloured paper for dyslexia).

As a member of the Feminist Therapy Network (whose ethos can be found here), I am interested in and aware of the impact that cultural and societal messaging can have on our wellbeing and feelings of empowerment, believing that our humanity and an ethic of love unites us first and foremost.
